United Way of Central New Mexico (UWCNM) will join with the City of Albuquerque, representatives of numerous human service agencies and others to participate in the annual Purple Ribbon Tie-off to honor the survivors and remember victims of domestic violence. The event will take place at 10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 1, 2021, at the Family Advocacy Center, 625 Silver SW. 

 “We hope the community will join us to commemorate those who have suffered at the hands of abusers,” said Bev McMillan, Family Advocacy Manager of United Way of Central New Mexico. “This is also an opportunity to learn more about the important services being provided at the Family Advocacy Center.” 

 The Family Advocacy Center offers a range of free services to victims of violence, such as the development of a safety plan to protect families as well as food and clothing for those who can’t return to an unsafe home. Families and victims of interpersonal violence, sexual assault, and child sexual abuse can access legal, medical, and counseling services offered by 12 agencies and APD.
