Laurie Roach has a history with United Way. As a young kid, her parents, who were both active donors and volunteers, allowed her to ride the bus in the summer to downtown Fort Worth to volunteer for United Way. “I stuffed envelopes! I still remember the UW pin my dad wore with all the people holding hands.”
Roach moved here in 1988. She is Executive Director of PNM Resources Foundation and works for PNM in Community Outreach & Engagement.
Her volunteerism has not wavered. She has coordinated campaigns and events with the Gas Company and PNM for more than 30 years and has volunteered with her family for various drives, Days of Caring, etc. As a co-founder of Cancer Services of New Mexico, she will never forget having a grant committee come to my basement to listen to heartfelt client testimonials to learn more about a new organization.
Roach hopes UWNCNM will continue to change, pivot, and grow with our state. “Nonprofits are amazing here, and methods for accountability change. Corporate and individual motivation for giving changes over time, too,” she said. “Continue collaborating. Happy 90th and many more!”
