Empowering Future Careers: A Day of Exploration for Wilson Middle School Students
On October 23rd, 2024, the Albuquerque Career Connect (ACC) organized an inspiring career exploration activity for 8th-grade students from Wilson Middle School at “The Hub”. This event was designed to ignite curiosity and provide students with hands-on experiences that could shape their future career paths.
The day began with a warm welcome from our team, setting the stage for an engaging and informative session. We had the privilege of hosting professionals from various industries, including Hospitality & Tourism and Agriculture, Food & Natural Resources. These experts shared their personal career journeys, roles, and responsibilities, offering students a glimpse into the diverse opportunities that lie ahead.
One of the highlights of the event was a panel discussion featuring local employers from the New Mexico community. This session provided students with valuable advice and answered their questions about career pathways, skills required, and the realities of various professions.
The feedback from both students and teachers was overwhelmingly positive. Teachers expressed their excitement about the students’ enthusiasm and the clear understanding they gained about potential career opportunities.
Overall, the career exploration activity was a resounding success, leaving a lasting impression on the students and inspiring them to dream big and explore the endless possibilities that await them in the future.
