Teri Wimborne - 90 Faces of United Way
Teri Wimborne is the Director of Collective Impact for the Impact Team. She started in August 2014, approaching ten years with United Way. She enjoys United Way’s events that bring different sectors together. For example, Mission Graduate brought employers and K-12 partners together for effective communication. “I love it when we bring lots of different sectors together. When Mission Graduate was first starting, we would bring together many employers and our K-12 partners and force them to communicate.” She also looks forward to United Way being widely recognized as a leader bringing people together to cause positive change. Teri strongly values the organization’s commitment to DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) and appreciates United Way’s leadership in DEI, including land acknowledgments and training initiatives.
Teri commends United Way’s move towards trust-based philanthropy and being responsive to the needs of grantees, which includes the organization’s focus on understanding and supporting grantees beyond financial assistance. She enjoys the collaborative and functional environment at United Way and emphasizes positive interactions and conversations with colleagues. Teri feels honored and blessed to be a part of United Way, citing it as the most functional organization she has been a part of. Noting, “I felt like I had just won the lottery, coming to an organization that had it together and knew what it wanted to do.
