BJ Jones - 90 Faces of United Way
BJ Jones has been part of the United Way story here for the entire 40+ years she has been in Albuquerque – as a Sandia National Labs employee, as an SNL retiree, and now as an employee at Sandia Laboratory Federal Credit Union.
Her familiarity of UWNCNM also comes from the roles she has played with the Women United council (including as a representative to the national United Way Women United council), from part time employment with United Way’s former Center for Nonprofit Excellence to develop and pilot skills-based volunteer programs to match retirees with agencies, and now as a member of the Board of Directors.
BJ said two qualities drive her enthusiasm for UWNCNM: “seeing the collective impact of our contributions into our community, and meeting and working with employees and volunteers passionate about that impact.”
She hopes UWNCNM will continue to move the needle on eradicating poverty and inequity, she said, ensuring a social services safety net that makes north central New Mexico a place where people can, and want, to live and work.
